IPL 2024 auction – Chennai Super Kings made some big bargains at the IPL 2024 auction. Five-time champions have selected Rachin Ravindra, a New Zealander and major star of World Cup 2023. Chennai Super Kings opened bidding on the Kiwi all-rounder, who had set his price as Rs 50 lakh. Delhi Capitals raised the price by Rs 5 lakh as both teams competed to sign the 24-year-old.
Rachin scored three hundred in one season in World Cup 2023. Rachin broke several records as New Zealand made it to the semi-finals, where India defeated them. Rachin is left-handed and a batsman who can also bowl left-arm.
Ravindra was the star of the ODI World Cup in 2023, finishing as the 4th highest run scorer in the competition.
When Punjab Kings joined the bidding, it jumped to Rs 1,10 crore. Chennai raised its paddle immediately in response and made Rachin the first purchase of 2024.
Ravindra received accolades all around the globe for his outstanding performances at the 2023 World Cup ODI.
He finished fourth in his first World Cup, scoring 578 runs over ten innings. This included three hundred and two half-centuries. The 24-year-old’s left-arm spin is also effective and can take crucial wickets.
Ravindra has 145 T20I runs and 11 wickets and has already shown his bat skills on Indian pitches. He can be a crucial cog in his team.
He is just like Pat Cummins. Both in bowling and with the bat, he has performed well. I do not believe KKR used him that way. He did well when he was playing for CSK. Both the old ball and the new one he played with were of high quality. Both (Deepak Chahar) and (Matheesha Pathirana) are prone to injury.

WORLD STAR RACHIN TO SK – Rachin Ravindra from New Zealand, an all-rounder who impressed with his all-round performance in his first World Cup, has also moved to Chennai Super Kings. Rachin Ravindra was purchased for just Rs 1.8 lakh, which is a bargain considering his batsmanship and ballplaying potential.
