IPL 2024 Auction, List of Sold and Unsold Players: On Tuesday, 72 players received IPL contracts totalling INR 230.45 crore across ten teams. Shubham Dubey and Sameer Rizvi had their fortunes transformed overnight after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) purchased them for Rs5.8 Crore and Rs8.4 Crore, respectively. Shahrukh Khan and Kumar Kushagra also had a substantial payday after Mitchell Starc became the costliest player ever seen in an IPL match, surpassing Pat Cummins, who set his record just an hour ago. KKR splashed out an astonishing Rs24.75 crore to secure Starc, while Cummins joined SRH at an eye-watering price tag of 20.5 crore. Indian pacers Umesh Yadav and Shivam Mavi respectively went for 5.8 and 6. 4 crore when purchased by GT and LSG, respectively, while New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell made headlines as his sale price came close to Rs14 Crore. CSK had won his signature, while PBKS broke their bank by paying Rs11.75 Crore for Harshal Patel.

Meanwhile, CSK started stockpiling all-rounders, including Shardul Thakur (Rs4 Crore) and Rachin Ravindra (Rs1.8 Crore). Rovman Powell was sold for Rs7.40 Crore during a fierce bidding war between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders and eventually reached his base price of Rs1 Crore, becoming the inaugural player to be sold during IPL 2024 auctions. Rilee Rossouw did not find a taker, while DC signed up Harry Brook for Rs4 crore. Finally, in Australia’s Travis Head’s case, there was another bidding war between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, which culminated with him selling for his base price of Rs2 Crore at an auction by Chennai Super Kings at an auction that closed for Rs1.25 Crore – much above his starting figure price! SRH purchased them for Rs 6.8 crore. Unfortunately, none of Steve Smith, Karun Nair or Manish Pandey could find buyers.
Furthermore, overseas keepers and spinners such as Josh Inglis, Kusal Mendis, Adil Rashid and Mujeeb Ur Rahman went unsold. Gujarat Titans captured uncapped Australian left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson for ten crores during an accelerated auction, outbidding international cricketers like Rassie van der Dussen, Jimmy Neesham, Michael Bracewell, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, whose contracts went unsold. They also acquired uncapped wicketkeeper Robin Minz at INR 3.6 crore from GT.
