Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 will get a follow-up, which is a direct continuation of the original game and may ignore the events from Black Ops 2 onwards. This will be the 25th instalment of the series, and it has been a rollercoaster ride in the last few years.
Since Black Ops 4 in 2018, Call of Duty games have not been set in the near future.
Insider Gaming has learned that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be a direct follow-up to Call of Duty: 2025, set between 2030 and 2025 (Black Ops 2 takes place in 2025). Fans can expect to see some of their favourite protagonists return as they face a new antagonist following Menendez’s death.
The game will feature a Black Ops 2 remastered map, as previously reported. However, recent plans have altered the scope and content of the game.
In the past, it was planned to release all the remastered Black Ops 2 maps at launch. This is similar to the way Modern Warfare 2’s 2009 maps were brought back for Modern Warfare 3. The current plan is to release both new and remastered Black Ops 2 maps at the same time. This will be similar to how Modern Warfare 3’s (2009) maps were released alongside.
Though only one person could comment, speculation was that this was a response to the widespread criticism of Modern Warfare 3 being viewed as an upgraded DLC for its predecessor from 2022.
Modern Warfare 3 was developed in just 16 months due to the need for more planning at higher levels and changes within Sledgehammer Games. This led to Sledgehammer Games being under enormous pressure to release a Call of Duty premium title by the deadline.
Every time we read a Call of Duty-related rumour online, our eyebrows are raised. We’ve all been eagerly awaiting the next Activision game after being disappointed by Sledgehammer’s warzone-skinned Modern Warfare 3. Insider Gaming has reported that Call of Duty 2025, a modernized version of the Black Ops 2 game, will be released in 2019.
The final product was a launch game that featured 16 maps remastered from Modern Warfare 2 2009 and had a short campaign.
Infinity Ward is already working on the next Modern Warfare title despite the apparent flaws of the game.
Other details about Call of Duty are still in flux due to it being so early on the development cycle (about 22 months from now), but we do know that there will be a revamp to the movement system. There’ll also be a return of the classic ‘pick ten’ create- a class, a gunfight mode, and another round of zombies.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was released in 2012 for PC, PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360. Black Ops 2 is set in two different timelines. One takes place during the 1980s, while the other occurs in 2025. Both Alex Mason and Frank Woods are the main protagonists. It even had some choices made by the player that led to multiple endings.
It received mixed ratings on Metacritic, with critics scoring it 83 and Xbox 360 users only giving it a score of 5.4.
What about the petition that we mentioned earlier? A petition on change.org started by a Black Ops 2fan has gathered over 40,000 signatures. It is now close to the 50,000 mark.
Ethan Walker, the petition’s organizer, has asked for a version that is remastered in the same vein as Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered, released on PC 2016, Playstation 4 or Xbox One in 2016. The petition also asks that it include not just the multiplayer and campaign but maps and modes from Black Ops and Black Ops 3.
Walker mentions, too, that if Activision decided to remaster Black Ops 2, it would mean easy money for Activision, which we agree with. But whether or not this idea comes true is another issue.
The new Call of Duty, which is due to be released in 2023, could feature a remake of Modern Warfare 3 and the return of a villain. Saturn will be released in 2030. It’s five years since COD Black Ops 2! We can, therefore, expect to see some of the most popular characters from COD Black Ops 2 in this story. These include Mason and Woods. The storyline of the Call of Duty game is not clear, but we have seen some of the Black Ops characters in Call of Duty Cold War.
We will need to see whether we get to see some more cameos, as it’s reported that the Gulf War is set in this movie. We will have to wait until the plot is revealed, and we hope that it delivers the heart-wrenching Black Ops tale we’ve come to love.
The game will also include a classic ‘pick ten’ Create-a-class mode, a gunfight mode and a round-based game mode.
It is also rumoured the game’s movement system will be improved and overhauled, as it is still in its early development stages. The game is currently being made ‘entirely new, so there may not be any carryover system for old Call of Duty cosmetics or guns.
The Maps of Call of Duty 2025 Have Leaked
The last Call of Duty game to feature a futuristic environment was the Black Ops 4 of 2018, which was a pretty depressing experience. A Twitter account called @el_bobberto leaked some map leaks for the Call of Duty 2025 sequel. In the leaks, we noticed that many old Black Ops map titles were returning. These include Standoff, Aftermath, and others.
It was suggested that this game might not be new.
Activision is leveraging nostalgia to give players the best possible experience while bringing them new content.
